Here is the schema of the spectrometer electronics including both the PIC24 and the sensor board. I just noticed that the six pin connector and related wiring to be used for programming the PIC is missing, will be added soon. Sorry. mini_spec_schema_ver_02 Please report errors.

The Spectrum
Finally I can show you a spectrum. It's a HeNe laser beam scatterred from a steel surface, and background removed. In the heat of working I was not able to come up with any other setup where the spectrum peak would not go over the range. I wonder if the peak will be narrower with… Continue reading The Spectrum
The Sensor Board
This is my spectrometer board. The C12880MA module sits in the middle, no front optics yet. I also used couple of transistors for simple 3.3V -> 5.0V level shifting and couple of by-pass caps to keep +5V source noise low. The actual schema will follow later...
My PIC24 board
I decided to make my own controller board. It has a PIC 24FJ64GB002 microcontroller running with 26MHz oscillator. It also uses a FTDI USB module and is powered via USB connection.
My Plan for a Miniature Spectrometer
********************************** The Spectrometer Project short description rev. 26.11.2018 ********************************** The heart of this instrument I'm building is Hamamatsu minispectrometer module, part number C12880MA. It is a module including grating + sensor + interface electronics, all hermetically packed inside a metal can with footprint only slighly larger than a regular 14-pin dil component. Light enters through… Continue reading My Plan for a Miniature Spectrometer
